Rakia
FRUIT BASED SPIRITS
rakia
A European spirit, made from distilling fermented fruits.
The making of rakia is a family tradition thatβs passed down through the generations, and each region (and household) often has its own unique methods and distilling traditions.
Rakia is also a seasonal drink; crafted in batches from leftover fruit each harvest, and production is naturally limited to the amount of fruit availableβonce it's gone, the batch is complete.
This makes every batch of rakia a unique, one-of-a-kind drink.
About
Nubilumβs Rakia
-
Our rakia is made from locally sourced ingredients, we especially love collecting fruit from abundant trees throughout the backyards of Melbourneβs inner west. We make rakia from all kinds of fruits, but especially pears, plums, cherries, blueberries; we even tried tried making rakia from watermelon once (but it was so bad weβll never speak of it again).

We might never source fruit from the same vendor twice, not to mention that fruit tastes different every season as a result of weather and environmental conditions. After weβve started fermenting a batch of fruit, the weather and environment around our distillery also impacts the taste, quality, and how long it needs to ferment.
The mood and disposition of the distiller (not to mention their tastebuds) also change every year - itβs basically a never ending science experiment for our Mad Scientist.

Itβs different depending on the type & quality of fruit we use, but generally between 2-6 weeks.
